Fleet 21 launches their 9 month season in about 2 weeks. The September race day is Sunday, the27th. This doesn’t count for the Fleet Championship, just a great opportunity to sharpen your moves and hone your tactics.. We’ll lay out the course at the ramp at the 11:00 skipper’s meeting and start racing at noon. There won’t be a committee, we’ll probably do whistle starts. We can tie up at G Dock after to eat, drink, brag, discuss and push toy boats around to recreate what really happened out there. So bring your boat, crew, questions, ice chest, lunch/snack and let’s have some fun.
October 17th (Saturday) is our measurement clinic at Larry Rowe’s house. Again, bring your boat, food, ice chest, manpower, guitar, questions…We’ll get started at 8:00, (yes, Admiral, 800 hours, yes, A M.) If you have questions, call Larry Rowe.
November __?_ will be the first day of the Championship Series. Throughout the year there will be 4 days, with 5 races each day, and 4 throw-outs. The winner puts a scarlet, I mean RED Letter on her sail and engraves the skipper’s and crew’s name on the Van Slyke Trophy, PLUS keeps the trophy on her mantel until a new champion triumphs. These Championship One-Design races are the premiere competitive sailing events in Oceanside. There will be a committee and trophies, and the closest racing in North County. Let me know what day you would prefer to race in Nov.; Sunday the 8th, 22nd, or 29th, or Saturday the 14th, 21st. or 28th . I’ll keep a tally and we’ll go with the most popular date.
Remember our dues are still $0 and our entry fees are now $0.
See you on the 27th,
Stevy
